At The Port in Nassau, Bahamas

The port area in Nassau is referred to as the Prince George Wharf.  It is located adjacent to the Historic downtown Nassau.  At the end of the cruise dock is the Festival Place Welcome Center which you must walk through to get to the city.  Just through the welcome center is the taxi area, horse-drawn carriages and ladies doing hair braiding.  Woodes Rogers Walk is the street behind the welcome center that runs along the water.  Just past the taxis and the hair braiding center on the East side is the tourism center and Rawson Square where the Sir Milo Butler statue is located.  Past Rawson Square is Parliament Square where there are the main government buildings including the Senate, House of Assembly, Supreme Court, Queen Victoria statue, a war memorial and Remembrance Square.  Towards the west side of  the port area is the Straw market shopping area.  The Straw Market stretches between Woodes Rogers Walk and Bay Street and houses many vendors and shop keepers selling novelties, souvenirs and name brand merchandise "knock-offs".  Between Rawson Square and the Straw Market are the shops along and around Bay Street.  Bay Street is the main East-West thoroughfare through the Nassau port area.
